Almost 10 years ago, I heard that a PC game called Half-Life was a big hit in North America and other parts of the world, selling six million copies. They were also working on a Mac version. But the Mac plan was subsequently discontinued. I wanted to play Half-Life badly and see what a successful game was like. And I bought a cheap, used PC in 2001 and played a lot of PC games including Age of Empires II, Civilization III and Half-Life. Half-Life wasn’t exactly the kind of games I would enjoy. I don’t enjoy looking for clues to go from one point to another. So I didn’t really understand why Half-Life was such a big hit those days.
Valve Software released Half-Life 2 in November, 2004. They also developed Half-Life 2: Episode One, which was released by EA Games in June, 2006. And this game, Half-Life 2: Episode Two, was published on October 9, 2007. So Episode Two is about 14 months old.
This QuickTime game play video covers the first two chapters (To the White Forest, This Vortal Coil) of Valve Software’s Half-Life 2: Episode Two. The game starts at the scene where Gordon Freeman finds himself inside a wrecked train car, which is dangling on a bridge. One end of a train car is submerged in water. He gets out with help of Alyx Vance. Then they witness a strange phenomenon where a beam of portal energy is striking down the Citadel. Meanwhile, Gordon and Alyx manage to contact Doctor Kleiner and her father staying at an old missile base. They want the data packet she downloaded at the Citadel. They say it’s the contact code for the Combine Overworld.
