There haven’t been many good games for Mac OS lately. Maybe, the best game in the past year was EA’s Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars. If you go back 2 or 3 years, the best Mac game was Call of Duty 2, right? It’s good to know that Aspyr Media is porting the latest installment of Call of Duty to Macs. Bad news is that it was scheduled for release this summer and that it won’t be available till the 3rd quarter of this year, according to company’s announcement of June 3rd.
So we decided to preview the PC version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. It’s installed on the Windows partition with Boot Camp. Does it play on Intel Macs? Well, we have no problem playing it with our iMac Core 2 Duo 2.8 GHz at all. I haven’t finished all single-player campaigns. So I’m not in the position of evaluating this game. So far, the game is quite amazing with such realistic graphics.
Before watching the game play video made available below, there are a few things that you must know.
- This game play video comes with no audio. Windows applications appear not to be able to access the sound driver used by Boot Camp. Installing the latest version of Realtek Audio Codecs doesn’t resolve the audio issue with Boot Camp. So we have no choice but to release this video without audio. In the meantime, this audio clip will give you some idea about music and sound effects of the game. It’s a rough recording sample of the game play.
- The data center for this web server account has switched from one to another. The DNS propagation is currently carried out. Depending on your geographic location and your ISP, you may not be able to see the screenshots above or watch the video made available below yet.
- The total file size to download is about 410 MB. So it should take you a while to watch the entire video. If there are too many download requests, we will be obliged to shut the connection with or without a prior notice.
Call of Duty 4 is a product of Activision and Infinity Ward.
