Apple Soundtrack Pro 4 Basic Training: Part 4 – Export

Soundtrack Pro supports two main document types – Multitrack project (.stmp) and Audio file project (.stap). Choosing a wrong file type can be costly. In other words, one must choose the right file type when they start out and edit audio clips with Soundtrack Pro. Or they can end up starting over the whole thing. In the meantime, when you export a document, you might see a message window that says “The project must be flattened in order to save it as a different type.” Flatten? What does it mean?

Apple Soundtrack Pro 2 Basic Training: Part 1 – Introduction

Soundtrack Pro is a relatively new audio editing application developed by Apple, Inc. It was first introduced in April, 2005. Apple integrated Soundtrack Pro into Final Cut Studio in April, 2007. It is no longer an independent application and is now only available as part of Final Cut Studio 2 or Logic Studio. The current version of Soundtrack Pro available is 2.0.2.

Soundtrack Pro is a revolutionary audio editing application. That’s not because it comes with thousands of royalty-free music loops. Soundtrack Pro supports a non-destructive editing feature, which goes beyond Adobe Photoshop‘s History. Photoshop can record each step you have taken in the History palette. The history of actions will be cleared once the document is closed. Soundtrack Pro is different. Each action is recorded in the Actions window. The history of actions will be kept, depending on how you save a project file.

New Video Tutorial Series: Soundtrack Pro

Mac MacHouse

Coming soon is a video tutorial series that deals with Apple‘s Soundtrack Pro. It will be a small series, and we intend to create at least four video tutorials.

Soundtrack Pro is an audio editing application, and it’s part of Final Cut Pro Studio. With all security updates and the latest version of QuickTime, Soundtrack Pro turns out to be one of the few audio editing applications that allow Mac users to work on Windows Media Audio (WMA). How about HairerSoft‘s Amadeus? With all OS updates plus QuickTime 7.6, Amadeus II may not launch itself under Mac OS 10.5.6 any more. Amadeus Pro can still open WMA files. But this application will distort audio if you change the pitch.

A new video tutorial series will exclusively deal with Soundtrack Pro. The main goal of this video tutorial series will be to learn how to import files (WMA & MOV) and apply audio effects. Eventually, we want to import edited audio files to Final Cut Pro.
