TOKYO (MacHouse) – When you run a business by yourself, you have to do a lot of things – things that you like and things that you don’t like – for yourself. Personally, I hate to do taxes. I also hate to edit web pages. It’s boring. Speaking of editing web pages, I use a template package, just replacing one string with another over several pages, whenever I release a new software title. And I wish I could just click on a single button so that an application could do it all over several files. It’s a simple wish that could save 10 minutes of my valuable time. How about using Adobe‘s Dreamweaver? Well, Dreamweaver is a great web script editor and has a powerful Find/Replace feature. But you still have to run a search manually on each page. If you have the same request, your wait is over.

Replace123 makes my wish come true. Whether you have one or 50 web pages, Replace123 lets you replace a string with another over those files at a time quickly. It’s not just HTML files that Replace123 can handle. It can read many types of text stream files including asp, php, pl, txt, xml…

TOKYO (MacHouse) – We thought we ended the month of May with SmallCal. We were wrong. In fact, we have double releases again. The first Windows software title to introduce is Foldergeist.

Foldergeist can be a useful application, which lets you create multiple copies of a folder containing certain files and folders. Whenever we start with a new software project, we simply use a pre-defined package that contains a certain file and a VisualBasic template folder. By using Foldergeist, we can cut a few steps like creating a new folder, locating template files and folders, duplicating them… The beauty of Foldergeist is that it will let you create any number of copies, naming them automatically.

TOKYO (MacHouse) – When we get stuck in finding a subject for which to develop a new software title, we also consider the possibility of bringing an existing Mac application to Windows. And we are ready to introduce the second software release of the day. It’s called SmallCal

SmallCal is a Windows conversion of an existing Mac software title called LittleCal Pro. SmallCal is a virtual calendar with which which you can record time-sensitive events. Unlike other software titles, SmallCal’s main window is quite small and takes a small portion of your desktop space so that you can launch it at any time while using other applications. You can use SmallCal to remind yourself of events that are scheduled to occur within a specific time frame.

TOKYO (MacHouse) – It’s really getting difficult for us to find a subject for which to develop a new Windows software product these days. Sometimes, we ask ourselves what we need so that we can be more efficient in developing software. And that’s how we’ve ended up with DXPurge.

DXPurge is a small Windows application that you can use to delete unnecessary resource files that are borne as a result of importing the folder from Mac OS X. If you have a folder imported from Mac OS X that contains many layers of subfolders, it can take you a few minutes or even longer to delete all those useless files whose names start with ._ (a period and an underscore). DXPurge will delete all Mac-related unnecessary resource files recursively. If you enable the checkbox at the bottom of the window, it will create a Zip archive after removing garbage files. DXPurge will also delete the DS_Store file.

TOKYO (MacHouse) – We just released a new Windows software title a minute ago. And we have one more software product to introduce. The second one to introduce is called ACT123.

ACT123 lets you comprehensively manage account numbers. We got the idea of making something like ACT123 while developing RSV123, a previous software release. RSV123 lets you manage hotel room reservations and involve customer IDs and reservation numbers. Anyway, using ACT123, create an account group, first, and set up account rules by which each account is to be numbered. If you want to serialize account numbers, choose ‘serial.’ Or choose ‘random’ as a type of accounts to make account numbers irregular. Now that you have an account group, all you have to do next is click on the New button, and ACT123 will automatically select a new account number for you.

Note that this application requires a database file, which can be downloaded if you choose Help > Download data file. Moreover, if your computer doesn’t have Microsoft Excel or Microsoft Access installed, you may be required to download the database engine installer from Microsoft’s web site. You need to choose AccessDatabaseEngine_x64.exe as ACT123 is a 64-bit application.
