This game play video is the fourth movie of the game play series for Majesty 2: The Fantasy Kingdom Sim. It’s a QuickTime movie showing an entire game play from a campaign called The Demon’s Advisor. The entire game play is longer than 70 minutes. So it’s split into two segments. And this movie shows the second part.
So money is flowing in. And I can upgrade equipment. Now, it will be just the matter of 10 minutes to wipe out all the hideouts of werewolves. And fighting Dragons is hardly a problem. But the game is far from over. I can still lose because Imp-Advistor is very tough to beat. If you enter his hideout in a wrong manner, you can still lose with or without plenty of money. In this game play video, one of the units entered Imp-Advistor’s hideout by mistake, which might have cost me the entire game. In the end, I could finish the game. Continue reading
This game play video is the third movie of the game play series for Majesty 2: The Fantasy Kingdom Sim. It’s a QuickTime movie showing an entire game play from a campaign called The Demon’s Advisor. The entire game play is longer than 70 minutes. So it’s split into two segments. And this movie shows the first part.
The Demon’s Advisor is the second to the last campaign. It’s one of the toughest ones to beat. It’s also true that this campaign is one of the best ones to play. Just as in the last game play video, you will face constant battles in this campaign. First, huge ogres will appear from your left. Ogres are not terribly strong. If you see just one ogre at the beginning, you are lucky. If two ogres appear at the beginning, you will have a tough time ahead, losing control of money management. Before destroying all their hideouts, the first werewolf should appear. And the werewolf is quite tough to beat partly because your units haven’t grown strong yet. And before finding and destroying all the hideouts of werewolves, the first fire-breathing dragon should appear. If multiple ogres, a werewolf and a dragon appear at the same time, which can happen, you will feel like abandoning the game. Continue reading
This game play video is the second movie of the game play series for Majesty 2: The Fantasy Kingdom Sim. It’s a QuickTime movie showing an entire game play from a campaign called The Gold of Chyort. It’s probably the first exciting campaign after going through several boring ones. This campaign is fun to play because you really have no time to waste and faces constant battles.
In this campaign, the rule is such that you have to collect a certain amount of gold, and you have 33 days to meet this goal. You will end up playing it many times if you don’t do it right. Let’s see. I probably played at least 5 times and finally understood what to be done to meet the goal. A key is simply explore the map and find 4 trading posts ASAP. If you have a hard time clearing this campaign, my suggestion is that you need to find the first trading post on your 3rd or 4th day. Continue reading
Almost 10 years ago, MicroProse released a real-time strategy game called Majesty. The PC version was released in February, 2000. I bought the Mac version of this game (released in November, 2000) that was packed in a blue box and really liked it. As I recall, there were 11 single-player campaigns or so. I don’t remember any more what the game play was like. The only thing that I remember is the very last campaign where I built a lot of wizard towers to defend the castle. It was quite a tough one. I wanted to play this game more. Unfortunately, there was no expansion pack (Majesty: The Northern Expansion) available for the Mac version. So I bought the PC version of the blue box and the expansion pack. And I had to finish all campaigns over again before playing the expansion pack. Well… The thrill was gone by the time I got to the red box (the expansion pack). And I abandoned the game without even finishing the very first campaign.
Talking about a different game, Paradox Interactive released a game called Majesty 2: The Fantasy Kingdom Sim on September 18, 2009. It’s nothing like the blue box except that the narrator talks by saying ‘Your majesty, …’ Huh! Just like the old time… This new game has got nice graphics like Microsoft Game Studios‘ Age of Empires III.
Okay… So is Majesty 2: The Fantasy Kingdom Sim a fun game to play? I can tell you that Majesty 2 can bore you till you finish several campaigns. While many campaigns are boring, it is also true that there are quite nice, fun-playing campaigns like The Gold of Chyort, Pretenders to the Throne and The Demon’s Advisor. In the meantime, if you haven’t grabbed a copy and are interested in buying this game, I have to warn you that Majesty 2 has a very bad bug which makes your computer to freeze when you try to load a saved game play. It’s so annoying and happens so frequently that you feel like just abandoning the game. Continue reading
