TOKYO (MacHouse) – For the past five weeks, I have sent four desktop applications to Mac App Store. And they have all been submitted to the Graphics & Design category. Bad news is that another one is being sent to Graphics & Design. I myself have had enough. But what can I say? Anyway, the new software title that I submitted to Mac App Store several minutes ago is called Shaded.

Shaded is a simple desktop application that lets you create a beautiful logo out of a mere text string. Basically, all you have to do is set a text string to the input field, selecting a font family and selecting a material. And, voila!
Features
- Store font families that you frequently use in the favorite font list.
- Selecting a font family will give you a list of available typefaces that comes with it.
- Cast or not cast a shadow around the logo.
- Select a material from a list of 40+ materials.
- Save the logo appearing over the canvas as an image file (BMP, GIF, JPEG, JPEG 2000, PNG, TIFF) to your disk.
- Save current progress as a document file for this application. Choose Open Document to resume progress from a saved file.
- Change the background color of the canvas.
- Set up the shared folder so that you won’t be prompted to name a file every time you save the logo as an image file to your disk.
- Overwrite or not overwrite an existing file in the shared folder. If you turn off the overwrite checkbox, the application will automatically append an underscore + a number to the file name.
- The fullScreen mode is supported.
- The application supports the retina screen. (tested with 2014 2.6 GHz 13″ MacBook Pro)
- Languages: English and Japanese only.
- Application file size: 36.9 MB.
- The application comes with a built-in 12-page user guide. Click on the Quick tour toolbar button or choose Show Quick Tour under Shaded whenever you need to see it.
System requirements
- 10.11 (tested with 10.11.6), 10.12 (tested with 10.12.2 and 10.12.5)
- 64-bit system
Limitations
- The application is free to use. If you choose to use it as freeware, you will have access to four materials. An in-app purchase will increase the number of materials to 44.
- The user cannot double-click on a document file in order to resume progress. That’s because we don’t want them to double-click on a document file while the application is busy doing something.
The following is a collection of sample images. The radius is set to 12.0, scale to 32.0. You can click on any of the thumbnails to see its bigger image.

Hello.
Can I kern with Shaded?
I can’t promise you with anything because of an existing class that has to do with the document file you create when you choose Save under File. But I’ll take a look tomorrow.
I have submitted Version 1.2.2 to Mac App Store. You will be able to adjust space between letters with it.
Thank you for the revision of 1.2.2.
If I can kern each space of letters individually, it will be perfect.
But it’s much better than previous version.
Thank you so much.
How can I do the in app purchases? From within the app it does nothing when I click an option.
Please choose In-App Purchases under Shared and select the top one (40 materials to a total of 44) in the list, clicking on the purchase button to the right.
I am sorry ,but this does nothing. It is even grayed out. I can send you a screenshot if needed.
it even says : “already purchased”. The next options are “not available”
Please send your screenshot to junk913@gmail.com .
Just mailed. Thanks for the quick response.
Please follow the steps below.
1. Quit the application if it’s running.
2. Select Finder in the Dock. While holding down the option key, choose Library under Go.
3. Navigate to Containers > net.mhvt.Shaded > Data > Library > Application Support > Shaded.
4. Trash the file titled Materials.
5. Launch the application and choose In-App Purchases under Shaded.
If that doesn’t help, then, I’m sorry, but I don’t know what else to tell you. Good luck.
Hanzz,
I have to apologize to you. It isn’t your fault at all. I’ve found a problem that seems to originate from the last software update after the application is made compatible with Swift 4. I’ve already submitted a software update (1.2.3) to Mac App Store. Hopefully, it will be available in 12 hours or so. Thank you for your reporting the problem.
