FTP with Cyberduck (Mac Only)

10 years ago, Fetch was THE FTP program for Mac users. After Fetch became a sharewhare title several years ago, many FTP developers followed in its footsteps. You often hear about popular FTP shareware titles like Fetch and Transmit, and it’s no longer easy to find a free, reliable FTP program.

Cyberduck is developed by David V. Kocher and published under the GNU General Public License. It is one of the few FTP freeware titles that are available on the Mac platform. Although it’s freeware, it surprisingly supports many basic functions.

The current version of Cyberduck, as of August 14, is 2.6.1. It is in Universal Binary.

This VTC explains basic FTP functions through Cyberduck. So it’s not just a VTC that explains how Cyberduck works. For example, what is UTF-8? Which mode should we choose, ‘active’ or ‘passive’? We answer these general questions that new FTP users may have.
