Over the next several days, we will be releasing at least 5 to 6 video tutorials for Boris RED 4 (4.1). Boris RED is a stand-alone 2D/3D animation application similar to Adobe After Effects and Apple’s Motion to some extent. There are several advantages for using this application over After Effects and Motion. Also, there are several disadvantages.

It’s an introduction course though you need some prior knowledge over video compression. We will go over basic settings for Boris RED and also discuss issues and advantages of using it. Furthermore, these video tutorials, which are open to existing members, will be designed particularly for those who use Adobe After Effects and/or Apple’s Motion.

The goal of this video tutorial series is to train you so that you can create a simple animation clip with travel matte in 15 minutes or so. The following video will be the result of going through all the tutorials. It’s a simple video clip with flames running inside characters. Use of light is Boris RED’s specialty, and it’s not possible to make a similar clip with Adobe After Effects or Motion without using third-party plug-ins. But you won’t need a special plug-in to make this video clip if you use Boris RED 4.
