東京（Tom Bluewater） – 去年の末から今年の初めにかけて「地下っ鉄東京」というiPhone用のアプリを紹介しました。これは東京メトロの全路線の列車の情報をユーザーに伝える製品です。現在の時間と照らし合わせ、ある駅に到着する列車３本の近況をユーザーに伝えるアプリです。ただ路線が東京メトロのものに限っています。じゃあ東京メトロの路線以外に他の鉄道の時刻表は使えないか？バスは？船もできる？などなど。。。この数ヶ月色々考えてきました。でもiPhoneで時刻表の数字を入力するわけもいかないよね。じゃあ、デスクトップ用のアプリケーションを使って時刻表をつくり、つくったデータをiPhoneに転送する？つまり同時に２つのアプリをつくれってことかな？でもデスクトップ機を持っていない人たちへの対応はどうすればいいの？そんなことをしているうちに一度は開発が頓挫した大計画ですが、今日やっと公開のめどがたちました。まずはmacOS用のアプリケーションの紹介です。その名は。。。自っ刻表づくりなり。

「自っ刻表づくり」はその名の通り、自分が使う交通機関の時刻表をつくるためのデスクトップ用のアプリケーションです。へえ〜、自分の時刻表をつくって、ただそれを印刷するだけ？違います。もちろん時刻表を印刷することもできます。ただ「自っ刻表づくり」を使う上での目的は、iOS用のアプリ「自っ刻表ラン」で使うデータをつくることです。「自っ刻表ラン」は以前紹介した「地下っ鉄東京」に似たアプリです。「地下っ鉄東京」は特定の路線上の特定の駅における列車の運行状況をユーザーに伝えるiPhone用のアプリですが、このアプリは東京メトロの路線の情報しか把握しません。一方、「自っ刻表ラン」は自分がつくったデータだけをiCloudを通して受け取るだけではなく、「自っ刻表づくり」を使うどの人からもiCloud経由でデータを受け取ることができます。もちろん交通機関も鉄道に限らず、「自っ刻表づくり」ではバスや船の時刻表のデータをつくることができ、またそのバスや船のデータでさえiOS用のアプリで使うことができます。  Continue reading →

TOKYO (MacHouse) – I have to admit that I’m obsessed with non-fiction crime stories. I’m hardly interested in fictions. America’s Most Wanted and Unsolved Mysteries were my favorites in the 80s and 90s. These days, I spend quite a lot of time watching Forensic Files and On the Case with Paula Zahn on YouTube. Watching one episode after another, I’ve come up with a new app development idea. How about running a photo lineup with an iOS app? That’s how I’ve ended up with a new application which I submitted to Mac App Store several minutes ago. This new submission is called Foto Lineup.

Combined with an iOS counterpart (Foto Lineup Viewer as freeware available to App Store), Foto Lineup makes a photo lineup system that utilizes the iCloud server as storage. Use Foto Lineup to create photo lineup data so that a crime witness can see a photo lineup with an iOS device (iPhone, iPad) to make positive identification over several suspects. You can create a picture profile with a local image file. You can also take a photo with the FaceTime camera installed on your desktop computer. Give each photo personal characteristics such as gender, skin color, eye color, first name, last name so that you can make a query over data you store on the iCloud server.   Continue reading →
