What’s Coming Up Next? – MacHouse Introducing TextRanger

Windows software TextRanger

TOKYO (MacHouse) – We are releasing two Windows software title today. The second release of the day is called TextRanger.

Windows software TextRanger   Windows software TextRanger

TextRanger is something that we came up with while we were developing ZeroDomains, a previous software release. We had to develop the former quickly so that we could go back to ZeroDomains. Inevitably, we only spent a few hours developing TextRanger. TextRanger lets you edit text data by adding/removing some characters from each line. Microsoft Excel could do it easily, right? Actually, not necessarily… When you open a text file with Excel, it can fail to read some type of characters (i.e. é, ü, ô). That’s the very reason why we had to develop one on own own.

TextRanger is a non-destructive line-by-line text editor. And it won’t alter the original text file. What you see on the first column of the list is what you have in the text file you’ve opened. And what you see on the second column is exactly what you will get by choosing File > SaveAs.

This software title is currently distributed as a freeware title as it’s still in beta. You can use it without limitations till August 1, 2012. It’s been tested for Windows 7 64-bit.

What’s Coming Up Next? – MacHouse Introducing ZeroDomains

Windows software ZeroDomains

TOKYO (MacHouse) – Developing a fully-functional application is not easy for sure. Finding a new development subject is tough especially if you develop four to five Windows applications every month just as we do here. Even when you know what you want to do with a new project, there is no guarantee that Windows OS offers you resources to complete it. In fact, we’ve abandoned three projects in a row in the middle of development for that reason. Well, finally, we have something to introduce. A new Windows software title we released about an hour ago is called ZeroDomains. And we have one more software title to introduce in a minute.

Windows software ZeroDomains   Windows software ZeroDomains

ZeroDomains is a Windows application that helps you find new domains to register. There are hundreds of top-level domains (.com, .net, .jp, .com.br…), if not thousands. And a list can differ, depending on where you live and your interest. So it is up to users to come up with a list of TLDs (top-level domains). Although it is equipped with a list of more than 650 TLDs, ZeroDomains won’t automatically choose some of them for you. Other than that, all you have to do is just enter a name in the Name field. And ZeroDomains will take care of the rest. After you press Go, ZeroDomains will look up for each domain and see if it is open. If it has not been taken, then its name will appear in black. If it appears in red, that means the domain in question is not available for purchase.

This software title is currently distributed as a freeware title as it’s still in beta. You can use it without limitations till August 1, 2012. It’s been tested for Windows 7 64-bit.

What’s Coming Up Next? – MacHouse Introducing MemoZaurus

Windows software MemoZaurus

TOKYO (MacHouse) – The last software release was TextZilla. It’s a multi-document rich-text editor. A Windows software product we’ve just released is something similar. It’s called MemoZaurus.

Windows software MemoZaurus   Windows software MemoZaurus

MemoZaurus is a multi-dimensional note organizer where you can create any number of note pages under any number of note groups. To start with, create a group so that you can create note pages. You can create note pages with existing documents (.rtf, .txt) by clicking on the Open button as well.

MemoZaurus does look similar to TextZilla. But there are many features that make it different and unique. MemoZaurus is a development project we almost abandoned because of software bugs. La vida no es facil. Now, it’s quite secure. So we’ve released it.

This software title is currently distributed as a freeware title as it’s still in beta. You can use it without limitations till August 1, 2012. It’s been tested for Windows 7 64-bit.

What’s Coming Up Next? – MacHouse Introducing TextZilla

Windows software TextZilla

TOKYO (MacHouse) – One reason why we abandoned Mac software development last October is that Apple, Inc. has destroyed TextEdit, Mac default text editor, with introduction of OS X 10.7 Lion. Without a good text editor, software development will be very difficult. Why do we say TextEdit is useless? 1. You will be prompted for confirmation when you attempt to edit existing RTF files. => Unnecessary loss of a few seconds… (See Screenshot 1.) Why do you need Apple’s permission to edit files of your own? We have no clue. 2. It’s a Sandboxed application. So it can crash and freeze unexpectedly. You really don’t want to keep TextEdit and Preview running at the same time. 3. The version of TextEdit that comes with OS X Lion doesn’t support case-sensitive Find/Replace. Oh, boy… That’s a death sentence for software developers. 4. The top tool buttons (font menu, style menu, text size menu…) are so tiny that some people can’t even see what they are. Of course, Apple won’t develop software such that even your grandma can easily use it. 4. If you close a document by pressing the Red button at the top-left corner or quit the application while editing, TextEdit will save changes without prompting you for confirmation. In sum, TextEdit is a nightmare application that everybody should avoid using.

Anyway, the second software title we introduce today is called TextZilla. It’s a simple text editor. There is a rich text editor called WordPad that comes with Windows OS. We hardly use WordPad because it lacks some basic features. What’s missing with it? It won’t let you open multiple documents. And TextZilla can handle multiple documents. However, TextZilla is far from replacing WordPad. TextZilla should be regarded as a quick solution to typing up something, editing several lines of code quickly. And there are some features with TextZilla that WordPad and NotePad doesn’t have. For example, with TextZilla, you have easy access to ASCII characters.

This software title is currently distributed as a freeware title as it’s still in beta. You can use it without limitations till August 1, 2012. It’s been tested for Windows 7 64-bit.

What’s Coming Up Next? – MacHouse Introducing KeyMux

Windows software KeyMux

TOKYO (MacHouse) – It’s been a while since we introduced the last software title. Today, we are releasing two software titles. The first one to introduce is called KeyMux.

Well, sometimes, making up an application name is not easy. If you give it a wrong name, it may not be easily found with a simple Google search. KeyMux may be useful in a situation where you already know how you want to name the first part and where you want to add a keyword to it to complete the name. For example, we know want to use ‘Key’ as part of this application’s name. And we have a list of keywords (2Go, Plus, Pro, Zero, View, Web, Smith, Batch, Box, Auto…) to add to that base name to complete the application name.

Meanwhile, didn’t Mr. Obama say a few weeks ago that if he had a son, he would be like Trevon Martin? So what will be a good fit for his name if he had a son? In this case, the base name is Obama. And create a list of first names like Robert, Trevon, Tom, George… Then enter one space in the Separator field. And set the combination option to Base preceeded by keywords. Finally, press the Go button. So the answer is Stephen Obma? Maybe, not…

This software title is currently distributed as a freeware title as it’s still in beta. You can use it without limitations till August 1, 2012. It’s been tested for Windows 7 64-bit.
